San Mateo Peak Hike w/NitOC & Camping Bares

Location: Morgan Trailhead, South Main Divide Road, Lake Elsinore

San Mateo Peak is the unofficially named 3,591-foot (1,095 m) peak, at the western end of the Elsinore Mountains. The trail is considered a moderate hike that covers 4.4 mi, with an elevation gain of 941 ft. It takes about 2 – 2.5 hours to complete. The hike begins in shady woods and then opens to exposure as it climbs up to great views at the top.

Take I-15 to Lake Elsinore Central Ave. Head northwest on CA-74 via Collier Ave., Riverside Dr., Grand Ave., and Ortega Hwy.  5.1 winding miles to S Main Divide then left 2.5 miles to the Morgan Trailhead.  Adventure Pass required.
Arrive between 9:30 – 10:00 am.  Hike begins promptly at 10:00 am.
